About

It doesn’t matter if you’re FAT, CHUBBY, OBESE, BEEFY, BIG BONED, PAUNCHY, PLUMP or ANY of these SYNONYMS…You need to get out there and MOVE!

Welcome to FAT ADVENTURES!

Most people describe their Weight Loss Experience like a journey. I consider mine more like an EXPEDITION. I began this Expedition at a hefty 400+ lbs. and couldn’t walk more than a 1/2 a block without having to sit down. It took every ounce of my being to walk out the door everyday so getting myself to a gym or a healthy activity was nearly IMPOSSIBLE.

I finally realized that I was at the point where I was going to eat myself to death and I wasn’t even 40 yet! Something had to change- and quickly. I joined the Y and took the Water Aerobics Classes with the geriatric crowd and found that after a few weeks- I was able to move better and I was dropping weight. The classes became too easy, so I needed a little bit more of a challenge and started to find other activities that interested me. The more I did, the better I felt and that’s the WHOLE point in a nutshell.

I blog to encourage other Fatties, Ex- Fatties, Skinny but Lazies and Couch Dwellers to get out there and find an activity that you LOVE! Start slow and find something that feeds your SELF-ESTEEM. If it you end up HATING the activity- move on to something else. Eventually, you will find your niche’.

While you follow me on my adventures, you’ll be meeting my 2 daughters- Jade (27) and Bailey (23), an Ex- BF or 2, my most favorite Co-Adventurer (Grandson Caiden- who is 6) and various DOGS, friends and whomever else I can get who might be too weak to escape out of the Blind Fold and Electrical Tape.

I want this site to INSPIRE, ENCOURAGE and MOTIVATE you. I want to help you become the best YOU possible. Trust me, you don’t have to be “The Body Beautiful” to feel GOOD about yourself. For every pound.you lose, every mile you walk, every yard you swim, every inch you climb- I guarantee that you’ll GAIN at least an OUNCE of SELF-ESTEEM…

…and doesn’t everyone want to feel just a little bit better about themselves?

Enjoy yourself, be CAREFUL but more importantly- get out there and MOVE!

JUST A BIT ABOUT  ME… In Case you were curious 🙂

2016- UPDATE
I used to weigh over 400 lbs. I lost 115 lbs. first and then had Gastric Bypass Surgery and dropped another 85 lbs. 4 years later, I gained about 50 lbs back and began to backslide. I beat myself up over that gain everyday. I had a lot of life changes and decided that THAT was going to be my excuse to eat again. Once things became less chaotic, I was able to grab the horse by the reins and begin losing again. I am living PROOF that you have to change your brain to change your body.

I lost the 50 lbs. I gained (see: https://fatadventures.wordpress.com/2015/11/23/gratitude-found/) plus an additional 10 in 2015. Had my labs done and it seems that I’m in the best shape of my life. How do you like them apples (in pie of course. Ha!)?!

EXERCISE has been the key to my weight loss and when I don’t exercise, I don’t lose…it’s that simple. I’m making every effort to get back out on the trails, on top of the boulders and into a kayak to take back my health and prolong my existence. I would LOVE for you to join me on this part of my journey!

I hope that you become inspired by my travels and find a passion in something as simple as hiking, biking or whatever floats your boat!
Life is good and enjoying the simple things is what makes it worth living! Weighing less and being a whole lot healthier is just the icing on the cake (mmmm…cake)!

  1. I just happened upon your blog doing a search for the bike path up to Carpinteria, and I love it, it’s hysterical! I don’t know if it’s supposed to be funny, but it made me laugh the way you were describing how you hated the bike trail and your brutal honesty just made me giggle! It’s great!

I lost weight hiking myself and although I only had to lose about 30 lbs, it was still a challenge for me to get out there and hike, which I did religiously, four times a week.

Keep up your blog, I know it’s a commitment, but it’s great. I’m certain you’re inspiring loads of folks.
