Eaton Canyon- Pasadena/Alta Dena

EATON CANYON- Pasadena

Location: 1750 N. Altadena Drive, Pasadena, California 91107

(mapquest it)

What to Bring: LOTS of water and a Hiking Backpack if you wish

(with all the important gear you need).

Wardrobe: Clothes that will keep you cool. Hat, Sunglasses, Hiking

boots or Shoes or sturdy Tennis shoes.

Kid Friendly? YES…but the very small might need a lot of help

Dog Friendly: ABSOLUTELY

Food: On the road before the park. Bring a snack or a picnic!

Cell Service: Sort of…at times

BOULDER HOPPING

There is a LOT of Boulder Hopping and crossing the river/stream. If you are in a wheelchair or have limited mobility…you probably won’t make it to the falls.

When you see the BRIDGE, you know you’re 1/2 way there….

Beautiful stream, huh? I thought so too until I fell into it 3 times! What a REFRESHING DIP it was! (refreshing dip = F’ing cold)

Waterfall #1

Waterfall #2

The BIG Kahuna

So worth the ROCK CLIMBING!

Here’s the thing though…if you are looking for solitude, this isn’t the place to expect it. The Waterfall is VERY popular and there are a lot of people hanging around up there.

More pretty pics

Details…Details…Details…

3.75 Miles Round-trip
2- 2 1/2 hours
Fairly Easy
Do this under 85 degrees
Fees: None when I was there but there maybe a charge- I just don’t know.

I hiked this alone (again, I don’t advise hiking alone) but there were a lot of people hiking the trail so you’re basically safe….

ANIMALS: There are always wild animals where ever you hike. I saw lizards and birds but be aware that there maybe SNAKES and assorted Cat Type Creatures…you know, the ones with the really big teeth and the bad attitude.
