Product Review- Carl’s Jr/Hardee’s *Teriyaki Turkey Burger*

It’s hard to find a good Turkey Burger. If they’re not made right, they’re like Hockey Pucks on a bun…

Carls’ Jr./Hardee’s did quite well with their attempted at something tasty/healthy and I’ll applaud as soon as I put down this burger…

The Teriyaki Turkey Burger has a light sauce, lettuce, tomato and a slice of Pineapple. It comes on a Honey Wheat Bun that I took off because I don’t do well with bread. The patty was juicy, the veggies were fresh and the bun was soft. Niiiice…

All and all, it was really good and worth trying again! As a matter of fact, there are 2 other types of Turkey Burgers on the menu and I’m gonna try them too (thank you very much)!

Supreme Protein Bars…a product review

If I could just write NOM on a product review and leave it at that, I would.

I love this bar! Hands down, it’s one of the best protein bars I’ve ever had! Granted, some bars have more protein- but they don’t taste as good. This bar had NO aftertaste, wasn’t too hard or crumbly and filled me up. The only trouble with it was that I WANTED ANOTHER ONE BECAUSE IT TASTED SO GOOD!

FYI-  I had a taste of The Peanut Butter Pretzel Twist and it was DOUBLE NOM!

Subway Orchard Chicken Salad…G-d Bless America

A lot of people hate this sandwich but to me, this sandwich is the  DAVID HASSELHOFF of Subway. It rescued me from drowning in the  monotony of Subway as we know it.

I’m looking at this from a DIET PROGRAM point of view:

A 6 inch Sandwich equals

Serving Size (g) 240

Calories 340

Cal. From Fat 60

Total Fat (g) 7

Sat. Fat (g) 1.5

Trans Fat (g) 0

Chol. (mg) 35

Sodium (mg) 620

Carb. (g) 53

Dietary Fiber (g) 6

Sugars (g) 12 (this is from the fruit)

Protein (g) 18

Vitamin A % DV 8

Vitamin C % DV 30

Calcium % DV 6

Iron % DV 20

with regular Veggie Toppings, you’re probably looking at another 30-40 calories. No big deal – load it up with THAT VEGGIE GOODNESS!

As a GASTRIC  BYPASS Patient, I do not eat bread on a regular basis but I do eat it occasionally. I got this sandwich on the Omega-9 grain bread and it rocked!

Let me SAY THIS with all due respect to those of you who DO NOT watch your weight…if you don’t like, do NOT review online. I want SUBWAY to keep this little GEM of a sandwich on the menu. If you can eat anything you’d like, you wouldn’t chose this anyway!!!!!

SAVE MEH SANDWICH! LOL!

Almost Ice Cream (but not quite)

There are lots of Protein Ice Cream recipes floating around- especially from Egg Face at http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/ .

FYI- I LOVE Eggy and her blog!

I am RICH on personality but POOR on money SO- I can’t afford an Ice Cream Maker (feel free to send me one if you’d like). With that said, I have created my own “Ice Cream” without the Ice Cream Maker. It has a little bit of an ICY crunch but I like to chew ice (my dentist LOVES this) so I prefer it that way! I’m sure this isn’t an original recipe- but it’s really good in my eyes and satisfies my Ice Cream cravings…

Roc’s Fake but FAB “Ice Cream”

1 container of Kroger Carb Master 80 Calorie Yogurt (I like Cherry)

2 Tablespoons of Cool Whip

Dump yogurt into a freezer friendly container. Add the Cool Whip. Mix together. Freeze.

Take out about 20-30 minutes before you want to indulge to thaw a little. Scarf…

Protein- 12 grams / Sugar- 5 grams/ Calories- 105

You can add in anything that is “Food Program Friendly.” I personally like to add coconut (1 Tbsp- 2.5 extra grams of sugar). I also like to make this with Strawberry yogurt and I’ll add an extra fresh strawberry or 2.

So there you go! Indulge!
